What is a credit union?

How are we different than a Bank? Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that were built on the principle of “people helping people”.  We are owned and operated by our members, not stockholders or investors.  A volunteer board of directors is elected by members to oversee the operations of the credit union. Once you become a member you become part owner.

Profits made by credit unions are returned back to members in the form of reduced fees, higher savings rates and lower loan rates.  Like banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans and provide many other financial services to our members.
